The Virginia Biosolids Council presented the VBC 2020 Virtual Informational Session Wednesday, September 23 . Click HERE to view a recording.
The webinar featured two presentations on matters associated with wastewater recovery and biosolids recycling.
Dr. Greg Evanylo of Virginia Tech, a member of the W4170 research group, reviewed research done by the national research group on EPA’s Office of Inspector General (OIG) report on its biosolids program.
Dr. Linda Lee, a Purdue professor of agronomy, reviewed the characteristics, fate and challenges in wastewater and biosolids management of PFAS, a family of chemicals widely used in a variety of industrial and consumer applications for more than 50 years. Dr. Lee is the recent recipient of a $1.6 million grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to understand the ways in which agricultural applications may affect surface ground waters that feed rural drinking wells in Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
